As Disney continues to get ready to open TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom, we stopped by to take a look at the latest progress. Earlier today, we noticed that the construction walls have been removed and got word that Disney World would implement a mandatory locker system for loose items.

Now, we have photos of newly installed stanchions for an extended queue, should it be needed. Disney World has not announced if they will implement a Virtual Queue for TRON, but it seems quite likely. With a Virtual Queue, Disney would be able to limit the number of guests riding per hour, effectively eliminating the need for an overflow queue. That said, it’s easier for construction crews to install the system now before the attraction opens than it would be after the fact. It’s likely that these stanchions will only be installed when needed, sort of like the stanchion system along the Magic Kingdom parade route.

As you can see in the photos below, the stanchions run along the winding ramp that guests will walk up to get to the TRON Lightcycle Run main entrance. During normal operations, the queue will begin much further along the ramp, where the entrance sign was recently installed (pictured below).

Disney World has not announced an official opening date for TRON Lightcycle Run, but with construction walls down, extended queue stanchions in place, and stress testing continuing, we imagine previews for the attraction could begin in February or March 2023 before its announced “Spring 2023” opening.
