When announcing the full schedule for the upcoming Destination D23 event coming to Walt Disney World in less than two weeks, there was an update in the Disney Parks panel description that has fans encouraged about possible news of new offerings. Here’s a look at the change in description:

Join Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro as he hosts a fun and entertaining presentation about what makes a Disney experience so magical and memorable for guests and fans around the world

The first panel description aligned more with what the Destination D23 event has been in the past – a fun event that is typically light on significant announcements. In the past, larger Disney Parks announcements have come at the D23 Expo, which is a much larger event held in Anaheim.

With a look to the future, we expect to hear about updates coming to the Disney theme parks, some already underway and some on the horizon.

Following an ambitious presentation at the D23 Expo last September, we asked “Will D’Amaro Deliver?“. Disney Parks fans have been burned in the past by ambitious announcements that only lead to a final project that is scaled back or even completely canceled.

That said, the update to the panel description, including the mention of “special guests” could lend itself to a larger-scale series of updates than previously planned.

We’ll have our own Destination D23 wishlist closer to the event, but we hope to hear updates on the Blue Sky plans announced last September including a likely update on future plans for DinoLand USA. We’d expect that updates on the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure project will be mentioned along with updates on EPCOT and new nighttime entertainment at that park.

There are some other things that would be more appropriate for a wishlist article, so keep an eye out for that as we get closer to the start of the event.

While it’s certainly fair to say that the environment in Florida has changed significantly for Disney, D’Amaro was bullish on the Blue Sky concepts, saying:

What we’re going to talk about next is way early in the creative process. It’s what our Imagineers call “Blue Sky”. I want to be clear with everybody in here though – we are not daydreaming. It’s important to me that you know that these things that we’re going to talk about – they are very real. They’re very serious discussions that I’m having with our teams about the future of our parks and experiences.
