In an overview of a recent media preview, Brooke Geiger McDonald shared some details about the upcoming Moana-themed attraction at EPCOT called Journey of Water. One of the details shared was about how wet you might get while experiencing the walk-through nature trail. As you might know, guests will follow the journey of water from rain to the rivers and oceans back up to the sky in an edutainment setting where guests are encouraged to learn about the importance of this natural resource.
One question that we’ve heard quite a bit is how wet will guests get during the experience? While we haven’t had a chance to experience it ourselves yet, the report from Brooke Geiger McDonald says that guests can choose their own adventure when it comes to getting wet. There will reportedly be a dry path and a wet path during the experience, allowing guests to stay dry, get a little wet, or even get soaked if they want to.
Other areas will ask guests to interact with water to get a little wet, but nothing that should require a change of clothes or a towel although we do hear that preview attendees are encouraged to bring both.
Disney World has not announced an opening date for Journey of Water and while reports from preview attendees are that it is functionally complete, Disney continues to make adjustments. Disney World has said everything from “opening this Fall” to “opening later this year”. These communications have been confusing for some, but aren’t necessarily in conflict.
