Flags Removed from Disney World’s Transportation & Ticket Center After Monorail Becomes Entangled in American Flag

|

Guests visiting the Transportation & Ticket Center gateway to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT may notice that the flags that typically fly at the location are missing. This is reportedly due to one of the flags getting tangled up in a monorail wheel after becoming dislodged from the flag pole during an afternoon thunderstorm with high winds.

The incident occurred last weekend as a thunderstorm whipped through the area. Typically, the American Flag sits in the middle and is flanked by the Walt Disney World flag to the left and the State of Florida flag to the right.

As seen in the video below, the American Flag appears to have had its rope wrapped up under Monorail Yellow’s tires, causing the Monorail operator to stop the vehicle. It’s likely that high winds caused the American Flag to become detached from the pole, intruding on the monorail beam. Typically, there is quite a bit of clearance between the pole and the Monorail beam, as seen in our photo above.

It’s unclear when or if the flags will return to the Transportation & Ticket Center.
