The MuppetVision 3D sign has been removed as construction continues in the former Muppets Courtyard area of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Replacing The Muppets will be Mike Wazowski, Sulley, and more monsters from the Monsters Inc. franchise. We made it out to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on an overcast morning to find the marquee removed from the former MuppetVision 3D theater. Here’s a closer look!

And here’s a look at the former MuppetVision 3D building as seen during a visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this morning. As you can see, the marquee has been removed from the facade, leaving just two steel mounting plates behind.
As for what’s next for the former MuppetVision 3D space, that remains a bit of a mystery. Officially, Walt Disney World says that a “whole new theater show” will be coming to Monstropolis. However, mention of the theater show was omitted from the most recent Monstropolis preview in the Walt Disney Imagineering Presents exhibit.
To me, the omission of the show supported rumors that the original concept for the space had been scaled back. I’m not quite ready to say what the area could be used for, but my understanding is that the space may not be fully utilized for a new show.
Again, Walt Disney World maintains that there has been no change from the previously announced theater show, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see what it looks like when work is completed. I could very much be wrong, and the former MuppetVision 3D theater could be fully utilized for a new show. Concepts that I heard of for the new show sounded ambitious, but we’ll see where WDI lands.
Updated concept art for Monstropolis shows that the venue will be turned into The Glob theater.
