Peak Peeking: In-Park Views of Construction Rising at Future Cars-themed Expansion of Frontierland at Magic Kingdom

|

Guests visiting Magic Kingdom will start to see some concrete rising over the construction walls surrounding the former Rivers of America. The sprawling construction site is part of a half-decade effort to create a new Villains Land, and a Cars-themed expansion to Frontierland called Piston Peak National Park. It’s this Cars-themed construction site that we’ll focus on today.

In-Park Views of Piston Peak National Park Retaining Wall Construction

What started as a first look back in early February is now visible to all. As work continues on the creation of a retaining wall for a water feature in the upcoming Piston Peak National Park is now peeking above the Frontierland construction walls. We stopped by Magic Kingdom recently to get a closer look!

Recent aerial photos shared by friend of the site Bioreconstruct revealed the construction as seen from more than 3,000ft above Magic Kingdom.

That said, we were interested to see what the in-park view would be like for guests. Here’s a look around!

This first angle is from near the Diamond Horseshoe restaurant, looking across the former Rivers of America construction site at the back of the growing wall. In the distance, we can see Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which is still under refurbishment until early May.

From areas near Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, we can see the retaining wall and rebar peeking over the top of the construction walls.
