Guardians of the Galaxy – Awesome Mix Live! Returns to Epcot Today With Specialty Food, Drinks, and Treats

As announced back in January, the Guardians of the Galaxy – Awesome Mix Live! concert returns to Epcot today. The show/concert clocks in at about 20 minutes in length and features live performances of some of the hit songs found on Peter Quill’s Awesome Mix 1 & 2.

The concert will run from June 14th to August 18th at the American Gardens Theater in The American Adventure pavilion in Epcot. The storyline of the show surrounds the events of Nova Prime and the Xandarian government. Basically, Quill struck up a deal to bring an outreach program to Earth to share the rich culture of the Xandarian people. As luck would have it, Peter informed Xandar’s leaders that there’s already a place on Earth with a similar mission… a theme park called Epcot, where all of Earth’s cultures are celebrated. So, as part of their outreach, Xandar sent some of their most talented musicians to perform the human audiences’ best-loved hits. Here’s our video of the full performance from last summer.

In addition to the return of the Awesome Mix Live concert, Disney has announced some new eats themed to the out-of-this-world concert.

At Liberty Inn you can grab a Space Sandwich or an Awesome Mix Plate. The Space Sandwich features barbecue pulled pork topped with crispy onions and served on a Kaiser bun with french fries, while the Awesome Mix Plate includes french fries topped with barbecue pulled pork, macaroni and cheese, bacon, and lettuce. If you’re looking for something on the sweeter side, then the Cosmic Cake is just the thing. This chocolate cake is filled with vanilla buttercream and “space sprinkles”. Whatever you choose, you can wash it down with Rocket Fuel – a frozen Coca-Cola slushy with grenadine.

Over at Fife & Drum, you can snack on a Mix Tart strawberry-filled shortbread cookie or sip one of a few beverages. The Awesome Mix Slushy is a frozen blue raspberry, strawberry, and lemonade slushy and it’s served with a fun glow cube. Or find your inner-plant with the I Am Root float, featuring Barq’s Root Beer with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and mint leaves. There’s also the Destroyer Punch with orange, pineapple, and lime juices and grenadine. Adults can even enjoy an alcoholic version, Galaxy Juice, which includes cherry bourbon.
