Leave a Legacy West Side Monoliths Completely Demolished at Epcot

The west side of the Leave a Legacy monoliths have now been completely demolished at Epcot. As you may remember, walls went up around the west side monoliths back on the morning of May 20th.

We took to the highway in the skies this morning aboard the monorail to give you the best possible view of the work taking place.

Continuing around the monorail loop gives us view directly behind the construction walls. As you can see, the removal of the monoliths appears to be a relatively easy and clean process, leaving most of the walkway around it intact.

Keep in mind that the photos will be relocated, but Disney has stated that the granite monoliths themselves will not be reused. Guests will be able to find their photos in a new area outside of the park beginning in 2020. The next phase of this work will be the construction of gardens and green spaces as per the concept art. Once that is complete, walls will go up on the east side for demolition of those monoliths.

Disney has stated that they will have more to share about the future of Epcot at the 2019 D23 Expo in August.
