Governor Newsom Ignores Reporter Question About Disneyland Reopening

Another day has seemingly passed without any real movement forward in terms of a Disneyland reopening plan from the state of California.

In today’s press conference, California Governor Gavin Newsom ignored a question from Adam Beam of the Associated Press about Disneyland reopening. Beam asked a two-part question that first inquired about the latest status of the reopening plans for Disneyland and other theme parks. Newsom instead focused on the second part of Beam’s question, which asked about the color-tier system, completely ignoring the question about Disneyland reopening.

Disneyland fans might remember the somewhat wild news week we had last week that started with state legislators turning up the public pressure on Newsom, echoing calls from Disney itself and the city of Anaheim, pleading for reopening guidelines.

Then, the theme parks were given a draft version of the reopening guidance, which called for geographic restrictions on visitation, and possibly weeks or longer of waiting for counties to get into lowered tiers before they could reopen. Disneyland and other theme parks then asked Newsom to postpone the announcement of reopening guidelines.

Newsom ultimately obliged, postponing an announcement to “seek additional input from health, workforce, and business stakeholders” before making a decision.

Now, with Newsom ignoring a question about the latest progress on a theme park reopening plan, the hope is that the administration is in earnest discussions with the theme parks to put together a reopening plan that is both safe and timely.

Walt Disney World has been open in Orlando, FL for over two months now, and local officials have yet to link a COVID-19 outbreak to the theme parks despite combing over the data to search for one. Disney World has, in our opinion, been the industry leader in safety at the theme parks, even recently issuing a ban to a guest who refused to follow the mandatory mask rules. Disney World has also implemented physical distancing throughout the parks and is limiting capacity via a theme park reservation system.

    1. I know its impossible but the thought of Disney up and moving Disneyland to another state would be a dream come true. California is a wasteland of idiotic polticians and dangerous mindsets. Such a shame its stuck in that hellhole. One of those dreams like winning the lottery. Won’t ever happened but would be amazing if it did.

    2. I agree that we have an idiotic politicians here but the thought of moving to Texas would be awful! Strangely enough, I’m
