“Open Disneyland” Rally Taking Place in Front of Disneyland Today

An “Open Disneyland” rally is taking place in front of the Happiest Place on Earth today as Disneyland fans and Cast Members gather on Harbor Blvd. From what we could tell, the crowd was majority Cast Members. In late September, Disney announced that 28,000 Cast Members would be laid off in the theme parks division. As of publish time, over 8,400 of the 28,000 layoffs are from Disneyland.

Our thanks to our friends at Discover the Magic on Instagram for sending along some photos of the rally.

Also present was a group gathering signatures in an effort to recall California Governor Gavin Newsom.

The rally is just the latest in public pressure on Newsom to deliver overdue guidelines for theme parks. The rally is occurring one month and one day after Newsom stated that guidelines would be delivered “very very shortly“. The Newsom administration sent draft guidelines to California theme park operators, but the guidelines were reportedly too strict, leading Disneyland and others to ask Newsom to delay the official release of the guidelines. The Newsom administration is reportedly in talks with theme park operators now to come up with guidelines that work for everyone. That said, Newsom has said that he’s in “no hurry” to release the guidelines.

    1. Thank you Newsom! Essential workers appreciate your firm stance! We’re sick of attending drive thru funerals! Let the spoiled Disney bootlickers kick rocks.

    2. STOP👏TRYING 👏TO👏 INFECT 👏MORE👏 PEOPLE 👏JUST 👏BECAUSE 👏YOU 👏WANT 👏TO 👏RIDE 👏THE👏 TEACUPS 👏AND 👏A 👏CORNDOG!

    3. Thank you Cast Members and all others who were there to protest the awful decision of Gavin Newscum. WDW has been open since July and no problems. Universal Orlando has been open before that. Disney needs to open and allow so many Cast Members to get back to work. But remember that Newscum closed down all winerys and bars over July 4th weekend but kept his winery open. Pure hypocrite. Recall Newscum, he is a multi millionarie who is part of the 1 percent and screwing the rest of us while he lives his life of luxury. OPEN DISNEYLAND, KNOTTS, UNIVERSAL, SIX FLAGS! and all others.

    4. When Disneyland opens up again, I sure hope that the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and the Royal Hall 😊😁😀☺️🤠😸🙂❤️💙💜💝 becomes available at the same time, because I know someone who has two daughters and they look like they would make excellent Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique customers and the kind of girls who would like to get a hug from Ariel, Snow White and Cinderella.

    5. Tell that to the cast members and their families that were affected by the lay offs. There are safe ways to open Disneyland and Newsom has not worked in good faith with Disney.
Disneyland is the only Disney theme park that is still closed. Disney World has been open for a while now and has provided great safety measures for their guests and cast members.

    6. #Newsome, let these Disney cry babies cry. We don’t need the additional tourists from all over the country not knowing if they are infected or not. They may not have symptoms but can be infected. Disneyland is a lot smaller space compare to Disney World. People can’t even behave or social distance at Costco, how do you expect people do this at Disneyland? Even before Covid-19 people were on top of people like ants. As it is we have enough entitled people in Orange County. We don’t need more of them. Newsome don’t let Sidhu or any other mayor push you around. Remember you’re their boss not the other way around.

    7. It’s sad that people are so ignorant and selfish that they can’t stop spending and being ridiculous about having this misguided desire to go to Disneyland so they can go shopping 🤦 How about we save your shopping and souvenirs and screaming and spewing the virus about until we get stuff under control, you selfish people… There is more to this world then the people in Anaheim,or California who have a desire to go to Disney ..and to the furlough employees, my sympathies.. I hope this is over soon and your vaccinated and Disney and you are back in action..in the meantime I hope Disney does what they can to take care of those dedicated employees..

    8. DisneyWorld has been open since July no outbreaks, same with Universal Orlando! Are you saying California’s population is more ignorant and can’t follow protocol for Disneyland?

    9. There have been no outbreaks associated with the openings of theme parks in Florida. If Newsom really was led by science, he would trust Disney to follow their stated protocol with reduced capacity, additional cleanings, required masks and distancing. This isn’t a difficult decision.

    10. As one of the people that was there all the Disney supporters were spaced and were wearing masks. It was fans, CM’s, and former CM’s that were there. Only one CM that was there that wasn’t wearing a mask was more than 10′ away from everyone. The others that weren’t wearing masks were Recall Newsom people. We were there to support the 28,000 that were laid off, which included the rally organizer. We were there to call for Disneyland to open so that the CM’s can get back to work to support their families, and no it’s not just as easy getting another job. Some of those CM’s have been there many years and can’t just start over. We were there to make it known that Anaheim and Orange County rely on Disneyland to be open to bring in business. So there us way more to it then just wanting to shop and go on rides. It’s my families livelihood. And yes I mean my family, my brother in law is a 32 year CM
