After installing dams recently, Disney World has begun the process of draining the moat around Cinderella Castle to support the removal of the 50th Anniversary decorations from the castle.

The 50th Anniversary medallion has already been removed from the front of Cinderella Castle, but high-reach cranes will be utilized for the next phase of the project, which includes decor removal and paint touchups. It is expected that the current “rose pink” version of the Cinderella Castle paint scheme will remain.

  1. How long does a process like this take? I’m visiting second week of May. The castle won’t be all scaffolded or anything, will it?

    • It could take a few weeks or longer, but there will be no scaffolding or impacts during normal operating hours
