“Change is good” -Rafiki
As predicted, proper demolition is now underway in DinoLand USA as part of the first part of the first phase of the Tropical Americas project. In order to make way for an all-new Encanto-themed attraction, Walt Disney World needs to demolish the existing Dino-Rama section of DinoLand USA – and that’s just what they’ve done. While visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom this morning, we noticed that not only were the former Fossil Fun Games demolished, but that work is underway on demolishing TriceraTop Spin as well. Let’s take a look!
Dino-Rama Demolition in DinoLand USA
We’ll start with a wide shot, showing how empty the space is following the demolition of all of the Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama Fossil Fun Games. We can also see that demolition has taken place on most of the TriceraTop Spin queue structure, with the rest of the demolition expected to take place soon.
So far, Disney has somewhat carefully removed pieces of TriceraTop Spin, but I think the days of careful removal may be behind us, and whatever is left standing will not be here for long – including some of the ride vehicles still in place. In short, if Disney was okay with some collateral when knocking down the nearby queue structure, I don’t think that that indicates that they want to save what’s left of the ride system or vehicles.
Here’s a before/current of the view from near the Restaurantosaurus lounge. The Dino-Rama sign was the first casualty of progress, and now most of the TriceraTop Spin queue is gone too.
Here’s a view past the belly of the Cementosaurus at the demolition.
Finally, a look through some nearby trees at the pile of rubble – perhaps a mix of the TriceraTop Spin queue and some of the Fossil Fun Games.
