UPDATE (4:15pm): Walt Disney World has confirmed that Blizzard Beach will be closed starting May 1st. Here’s our updated article below, with our original article continuing after.
Walt Disney World has announced that Typhoon Lagoon water park will reopen on May 1, 2025. The announcement came in a blog post announcing that Blizzard Beach water park will host its 30th anniversary celebration throughout the month of April. As of publish time, there is no announced closing date for Blizzard Beach, although the blog post does say that “…just when you’ve had more than enough wintery fun, we’ll transition to a more tropical splash when we reopen Typhoon Lagoon Water Park on May 1.”
It’s unclear if “transition” means that Blizzard Beach will close or if it just means that Typhoon Lagoon will be open in addition to Blizzard Beach. There is no messaging on the Blizzard Beach webpage about a closing date as of publish time for this article.
Walt Disney World has been operating only one water park at a time since COVID-19 shut down the resort complex back in Spring 2020.
