  • The Heat Advisory covers all of Walt Disney World from 11am to 7pm today
  • Heat index values are forecast to reach up to 110 degrees
  • Afternoon storms return with gusts up to 55 mph possible

Third Consecutive Day Under Advisory

Today’s Heat Advisory is the third in a row for the Walt Disney World area. It follows advisories on July 9th and July 10th. The HeatRisk level sits at Major to Extreme today. That level can affect anyone without adequate cooling or hydration, and it brings little relief overnight.

July 11 heat advisory

Orlando is forecast to hit 97 degrees today, with a 50 percent chance of rain. Guests should hydrate before feeling thirsty, wear lightweight and light-colored clothing, and seek air conditioning during the hottest parts of the day.

Heat Safety Reminders

The National Weather Service is again urging residents to practice heat safety through the advisory period and the extended heatwave. Recommendations include:

  • Hydrate before feeling thirsty, rather than waiting for signs of dehydration
  • Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing
  • Take frequent breaks in air conditioning or shade, especially during outdoor work or activity
  • Shift outdoor activities away from the 10am to 4pm window when possible
  • Never leave kids or pets unattended in vehicles, even for a short time

Storms Return to the Forecast

Shower and storm chances sit between 30 and 60 percent today, near normal for this time of year. The highest activity is expected along the sea breeze collision in the late evening. Any storms that develop could bring frequent lightning, wind gusts up to 55 mph, and heavy downpours.
