Walt Disney World has begun placing portable fans at outdoor stations to keep cast members cool. The region’s heat wave continues, and we spotted several of the units during a recent visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While many of the outdoor locations have permanent or semi-permanent fan options for Cast Members, the fans seen below are temporary and have been deployed specifically due to the dangerous heat Walt Disney World is experiencing.
Fans Appear at Outdoor Cast Member Posts During Ongoing Heat Wave

Fans Installed to Keep Cast Members Cool(ish)
We saw fans set up in multiple locations around Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a yellow pedestal fan sat next to droid outdoor vending carts, angled toward the cast member working the register.
A giant fan was spotted at the entrance for the Frozen Sing-Along, ironically enough. The large industrial drum fan on wheels was operating at high speed near two cast members stationed nearby. A smaller black fan sat behind an ice cream cart, aimed to blow directly on the Member working nearby.
We will likely continue to see more fans installed to help Cast Members battle not only the current heat wave, but the brutally hot Summers that seem to be getting worse every year at Walt Disney World. Not pictured in this article are the permanently installed fans that can be found at most attraction entrances. Also not pictured are the smaller fans that clip onto umbrellas for Cast Members working in even more portable locations.

- The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory on July 9th, kicking off a multi-day heat wave with heat index values up to 110 degrees.
- A second consecutive Heat Advisory followed on July 10th. Extreme HeatRisk conditions are now expected to continue through at least Sunday.
