According to a discussion with Cast Member unions, the refurbishment of Spaceship Earth has been delayed. The refurbishment, which was set to begin on May 26th, has been pushed back, with no set start date as of right now. It doesn’t sound like the refurbishment has been cancelled.
According to the union, Spaceship Earth will reopen with the rest of EPCOT on July 15th. Of course, with Disney putting a halt on construction and refurbishment projects to the tune of $900 million in savings this year, it’s not entirely surprising to hear that a refurbishment that hasn’t even started will be delayed.
Disney has not officially announced that the Spaceship Earth refurbishment has been delayed and they have not officially announced that it will be open on July 15th, so treat this information as a rumor unless and until Disney confirms it.
