Cinderella Castle Moat Draining Begins at Magic Kingdom…Again

In what is likely tied to the 50th Anniversary overlay announced today, Disney has begun to drain the moat around Cinderella Castle…again. As you might remember, the moat was drained last year as Disney repainted Cinderella Castle as part of a Royal Makeover. The Royal Makeover was tied to the 70th Anniversary of the movie and not part of the 50th Anniversary plans per se.

Now, Disney finds themselves in a position to need access to the castle again and has likely begun to drain the moat to allow high reach pickers access to the sides and peaks of Cinderella Castle. Here’s a look at the moat as of this afternoon.
