With Disney Genie now out of the lamp, it’s a whole new world at Walt Disney World and the era of (official) optimized touring for the masses has begun. In this Disney Genie guide article, we’re going to cover how to purchase Disney Genie+ and what perks come along with the purchase. We’ll have step-by-step photos and explanations on how to purchase Disney Genie+.
Update My Disney Experience App
In order to access Disney Genie, Disney Genie+, and the Individual Lightning Lane attraction purchases, you’ll have to ensure that the My Disney Experience app is updated. Disney Genie+ was rolled out with version 7.0, but multiple versions have come out since then.
How to Purchase Disney Genie+
Once the My Disney Experience app is updated, you’ll be able to find the ability to purchase Disney Genie+ in two different areas of the app. The first, and most common spot is from the My Disney Experience app homepage. In short, Disney World wants to make it easy for you to buy Disney Genie+, so they’ve included a link to purchase it at the top of the homepage (usually).
Another spot where you’ll find the ability to purchase Disney Genie+ is from the Tip Board page. We’ve included screenshots of both locations below, so you are familiar with what you can expect to find on your upcoming trip.
You’ll spend quite a bit of time in the Tip Board area, so here’s how you can find it. From the homepage, simply press the “+” along the bottom bar and select “View My Genie Day and Tip Board”.
NOTE: If it is not the day of your visit, you will not be able to purchase Disney Genie+. You can purchase Disney Genie+ starting at 12:01am on the day of your visit. The next page will be an informational page that tells you what you’re buying with the Disney Genie+ service. Scroll to the bottom and click on the “Continue” button to move to the next step of the checkout flow.
As of June 27, 2023, you can either purchase Disney Genie+ for all four theme parks or for one theme park only. If you’d like to see which experiences are part of your theme park selection, click “See Experiences”. Note that experiences are subject to availability and are not guaranteed with your Genie+ purchase. You’ll still need to reserve Lightning Lane times, based on availability after you purchase the Disney Genie+ service.
The final step will be to confirm the party (or guests you wish to purchase Disney Genie+ for) and the payment. You’ll be asked to enter some contact info and then payment info such as a debit card to charge. The price of Disney Genie+ varies by date and by theme park. Disney does not advertise the price of Disney Genie+ ahead of time and you will only be able to see the price of the service on the day of your visit. You will be able to experience each eligible Lightning Lane once per day, based on availability.
That’s it! From there, you’ll have access to everything that Disney Genie+ offers.
