In an update to the Disney World website and My Disney Experience app, Disney is attempting to lower guest expectations as it relates to the paid skip-the-line service called Disney Genie+ (via Scott Gustin). In updated wording on the app and website, Disney says that guests can, on average, expect to use Lightning Lane entrances for 2 or 3 attractions per day with the $15 service. Here’s a look at the verbiage, with bolding added by BlogMickey.com:
When you take your day to the next level by purchasing Disney Genie+ service, you may choose the next available arrival window for Lightning Lane entrances at select attractions and entertainment. This unique service lets you use our new Lightning Lane entrance at select attractions and experiences at the Walt Disney World theme parks. On average, guests can enter 2 to 3 attractions or experiences per day using the Lightning Lane entrance if the first selection is made early in the day.
You can enjoy a Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane entrance once per day. If you’d like to re-ride an attraction or see a certain show again within the same day, you are welcome to use our regular standby line.
The update to the website and app comes at a time when guests are clearly frustrated with the service and not finding a lot of availability for Lightning Lane return times. The usefulness of the service has clearly deteriorated as more guests use it. To put the “2 or 3 attractions per day” expectation in context, we did 20 Lightning Lane attractions back on October 19, 2021, when the service debuted. To be fair, we are certainly power users of the service, but for Disney to put out official verbiage attempting to lower guest expectations, there is likely some seriously negative feedback being provided by guests.
At $15 per person, per day, Disney Genie+ provides skip-the-line access to over 40 attractions and experiences at Walt Disney World. The caveat is that you have to book a return window to use the service at an attraction or experience. With a finite number of guests able to skip the line at each attraction, the service becomes less useful the more people use it. Disney has said that they will never “sell-out” of Disney Genie+ sales per day, but that access to attractions is limited. By setting an expectation of 2 or 3 attractions per day, Disney is likely hoping that guest satisfaction scores will increase should a guest be able to ride four or more attractions in a day.

2 to 3 a day. You used to be able to do 3 or more fast passes. And realistically you have to get up and hit this at 7 am. Nothing like having to set your alarm while on vacation. Thanks Bob, cant wait to see your Modern Victorian hotel.
So he’s not making the experience better, he’s telling us to lower our expectations. Wow. He needs to be fired. That is the worst thing he could have said.
Hi this is the exact response we received when we visited in March. The cast member at guest services used those words and said it was comparable to fast passes yet fast passes were free. At the time this extra detail wasn’t shown on the app or website. We were at HS and at 11am all LL for major rides had gone we certainly won’t be buying this again.
Manipulation of the numbers. Increased numbers of people in the park and decreased numbers if employees creating longer lines and making people feel the need to purchase a plus pass putting more money in Disneys pockets. People are nothing more than rats in a maze.
This week in Disney my family had Genie+ for MK and HS. We were able to book 2 attractions in each park, but the rides we actually wanted were unavailable by the time we were eligible for the 3rd ride, and we made 1st selections at 7am. At least with Fastpass you could select 3 rides up front and choose a preferred time. So Disney is right that most families are not going to get all of the rides they desire. It’s shameful and absolutely not worth the added cost in my opinion. We won’t purchase genie+ again.
