Today is a new era for the Disney Genie+ service at Walt Disney World. Two significant policy changes to the skip-the-line service have gone into effect today.
No Advance Sales
The first change is that Disney Genie+ is no longer available to purchase in advance of your Walt Disney World vacation. Previously, the skip-the-line service was available as a ticket add-on at full price. Now, guests who wish to purchase Disney Genie+ can only do so on the day that they will use it. Disney Genie+ sales open at midnight on the day of your visit and the first Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane selections remain set at 7am for all guests.
Sellouts Possible
Along with the news of no advanced sales being allowed, Disney also interestingly snuck some wording into their press release that notes that sales of Disney Genie+ will now be limited. Previously, Disney announced that Disney Genie+ would not sell out on any given day. Now, sales of Disney Genie+ will be “subject to availability”. It’s unlikely that we’ll see sellouts right away, but we’re keeping an eye on busy holidays like the upcoming Fourth of July as a date when Disney might want to restrict sales of Disney Genie+ to ensure that guests are able to get enough value out of the service.
Here’s the disclaimer that now includes the “service” on a list of things that may be unavailable. Previously, only the “attractions and experiences” were limited in availability.
