In the latest chapter of the FuelRod saga, we’re getting word that Disney will not be implementing the $3 swap fee as advertised on kiosks within the Disney Parks and Resorts that was scheduled to go into effect on November 1st.
The wording that we were given said that a decision has been made to not implement the swap fee at this time and that guests will be able to continue swapping their FuelRods for free. It’s worth noting that FuelRod has made multiple public statements on Twitter that the “host location sets the pricing”, so it seems like this is a decision by Disney. This reversal also comes on the heels of a class action lawsuit filed over the announced swap fees.

This does not surprise me at all. I think the filing of the class action law suit in California happened in less than 6 seconds 🙂 Disney had not even changed all the signage before that law suit was filed.
Not a lawyer, but free swapping played into my decision to buy. Seems like trying to change the terms of a contract after its in place.
Disney has managed to destroy the market for Fuel Rod. No one will think that swap charges are not coming. The only question is how much.
But like, this wasn’t Disney’s decision to charge a swap out fee.
