The Orlando International Airport (MCO) is expecting a 16% bump in travelers this Memorial Day Weekend when compared to 2022. In total, more than 1.1 million travelers are expected to pass through MCO from May 25th through May 31st. The airport says that early indications “point to a busy summer” for MCO this year.
The figures are somewhat at odds with expected visitation to Walt Disney World. For Memorial Day Weekend, there isn’t a single sold-out theme park according to the Disney Park Pass reservation system, and executives have cautioned that we’ll see a “moderation” in attendance at Walt Disney World following the end of the 18-month 50th Anniversary celebration.
Disney World has also deployed a number of ticket and hotel discounts this summer as they try to entice travel to The Most Magical Place on Earth. So far, average wait times in the month of May are down nearly 25% compared to last year.
