‘Mobile Order Photo Galleries’ Brings Food Photos to My Disney Experience Akin to Instagram Stories

A new feature has rolled out to the My Disney Experience app called “Mobile Order Photo Galleries”. The feature presents food photos from a Mobile Order-eligible dining location in an Instagram Stories-style presentation. The idea, we think, is to provide a familiar functionality to the popular social media app Instagram (or Facebook) to give an overview of what each restaurant offers without having to dive into a menu.

Here’s a look at how it works:

When selecting the mobile order option from the My Disney Experience app main screen, a quick pop-up shows you what to expect. Essentially, you click on a Mobile Order-eligible location that has a blue ring surrounding the dining location “profile picture” and then a slideshow of some of the most popular options will play in an Instagram Stories-style presentation.

Here’s a look at the Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo Mobile Order Photo Gallery. It showcases three different entrees for roughly 5 seconds before moving on to the next photo. You can also tap through photos forward or backward in the gallery like you would an Instagram Story.

Other dining locations like Backlot Express (pictured below) had a less polished experience, relying on heavily cropped horizontal photos that really didn’t offer much in terms of benefit to the end user.
