Westward Ho Prepped for Demolition, Churros & Popcorn Relocated

|

|

Westward Ho is now fully enclosed behind construction walls at Magic Kingdom. The shift signals that demolition is likely next for the shuttered Frontierland kiosk. Meanwhile, the churro cart and popcorn cart nearby have both relocated to new spots in the area. This all comes as Frontierland adjustments continue to be made to accommodate nearby Piston Peak National Park construction. Here’s a closer look.

Westward Ho Construction Walls Signal Demolition Is Next in Frontierland

IN THIS ARTICLE:

  • Construction walls now fully surround the closed Westward Ho kiosk
  • Where the Frontierland churro cart has relocated
  • Where the popcorn cart has relocated

Westward Ho Behind Construction Walls

Construction walls now wrap entirely around the former Westward Ho Refreshments building in Frontierland. The kiosk permanently closed on June 22nd. Walls going up around the structure point toward demolition as the next step in this corner of the park.

The walls match the brown and orange panel design used elsewhere around the expanding Piston Peak National Park site. Placards on the panels carry Western-themed phrases. Lantern-style lighting fixtures line the exterior, and the Westward Ho sign remains visible above the roofline, still perched atop the building as the walls close in.

A cluster of wooden crates and a lighting rig sit just outside the walls, near an opening in the barrier. The footprint enclosed by the walls extends past the kiosk itself. That would support our theory that the Frontierland boardwalk will be closing soon.

Churro Cart Relocates Near Frontier Trading Post

The Frontierland churro cart has moved to a new spot near Frontier Trading Post. Two orange umbrellas now shade the wood-themed cart. It continues serving the same lineup guests would expect from this stand.

Churros run $7.49 at the relocated cart. Mickey-shaped and Pepper Jack pretzels both run $8.49, soda costs $5.50, and water costs $4.25. A separate Coca-Cola beverage cart sits alongside it, marked with an “Ice Cold & Refreshing” sign.

Popcorn Cart Relocates Outside Pecos Bill

The Frontierland popcorn cart has relocated as well, now stationed just outside Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe. It sits beneath a trio of tan umbrellas.

Popcorn, cinnamon-glazed nuts, and cotton candy are all on the menu at the relocated cart.
