Aerial View of Roundup Rodeo BBQ Construction in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (November 2019)

We continue our project tour from the skies above Walt Disney World resort today with a look at the Roundup Rodeo BBQ table service restaurant coming to Toy Story Land. The story of Roundup Rodeo BBQ technically began this April when there was an official announcement, but Disney fans have always noted the change in Toy Story Land concept art to seemingly cut thematic elements from the entrance to the land. To compare, here are two pieces of concept art Disney released about a year apart. The first one shows the original plans, while the second shows what would eventually be the final plans for Toy Story Land. Note the removal of structures at the entrance to the land.

With plans for more things to do at the entrance of Toy Story Land cut from the final product, many Disney fans wondered what those plans would have entailed. While we may never know, the announcement of the Roundup Rodeo BBQ once again put attention on a potentially changing landscape at the entrance to Toy Story Land. Let’s check out the latest progress from hundreds of feet above Disney’s Hollywood Studios. As of yet, it remains unclear where, exactly, guests will enter the restaurant from.

Here’s a view from the ground of where the restaurant is located in comparison to the entrance to the land.

Using three cardboard boxes cut and taped together, Andy has created a new rodeo arena using some of his favorite toys, games, and play sets. And while some pieces are definitely western-themed, what makes this rodeo special is the broad assortment of toys that have been brought together to create a fun, colorful mashup-atmosphere that only a child could create.

Once inside, you’ll be surrounded by all of the rodeo festivities in-action as well as western town and train station play sets. And you just might spot some of your favorite Pixar characters scattered throughout the restaurant in the form of toys and game pieces including a toy version of Jessie riding on the back of a Trixie pull-toy and unique toy versions of Bo Peep and her sheep, all who appear to be performing in the rodeo together.

This immersive restaurant will surround guests with a kaleidoscope of toys, games, and playsets, providing yet another unique, fun, family-friendly dining experience that could only be had in Toy Story Land.
