2,700 Non-Union Cast Members Will be Laid Off at Disneyland

    UPDATE (10/3): State of California provided layoff numbers for Disney Vacation Club, which has been included below and takes the total over 2,700. Our original story continues below.

    BlogMickey.com has learned that over 2,700 non-union Cast Members will be laid off at the Disneyland Resort in California. According to the WARN notice that was filed with the state of California and obtained by BlogMickey.com, 2,774 non-union Cast Members will be let go beginning December 4th. Here is the breakdown of business groups affected by the layoffs:

    • Disney Parks and Resorts (Disneyland and related operations): 2,467
    • Disney Entertainment: 129
    • Disney Destinations: 95
    • Disney Vacation Club: 83

    As a recap, here are the total layoffs by type that BlogMickey.com has learned of:

    Between the 6,700 non-union Cast Members from Walt Disney World, 2,700 non-union Cast Members from Disneyland Resort, 950 members from Local 11, and the over 2,500 members from Local 50, we count nearly 13,000 total domestic Cast Members both at Disneyland and Walt Disney World from the announced 28,000 workforce layoffs announced for the parks.

    1. 129 for entertainment is really low based off what I have been seeing on my FB. Entertainment encompasses Characters, Hosts, Photopass, and Parades. A LOT of photopass and parades have been let go. And then a bunch of hosts and characters. I think that number is a lot higher than reported.

    2. Ugh. Guess I read that wrong. Entertainment is for Disney entertainment and not Disney Parks entertainment. Most of the non-union people for the parks is entertainment. So most of the 2400 is coming from Photopass, characters, hosts, and parades.
