A new report is out that says that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will soon offer guidance saying that people who are fully vaccinated will no longer need to wear face coverings in crowded outdoor scenarios.
Previous guidance had no functional impact on the Disney theme parks because it said that fully vaccinated individuals should continue to wear face coverings in crowded outdoor settings. Now, Scott Gustin tweeted that the Associated Press is reporting that new guidelines would allow fully vaccinated individuals to ditch masks altogether in outdoor settings – even crowded outdoor settings.
Of course, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has effectively banned vaccine passports, which would be needed in this scenario to verify vaccination status for individuals.
It’s likely that even while Disney is relaxing their previous physical distancing mandates around their theme parks and resorts, they will keep masks in place in some capacity until later this year.
