Guide to New Year’s Eve at Walt Disney World

We’re just days away from 2023 and Walt Disney World is ready to ring in the new year with fireworks, parties, and festivities at three of the four theme parks. Animal Kingdom will close early as it has in years past. Here’s what’s planned to ring in 2023 at Walt Disney World!

    Magic Kingdom (9am to 1am)

Magic Kingdom is the only theme park with two nights of partying. Demand for Magic Kingdom is so high that Disney throws the same party on December 30th that it does on December 31st. For a look back at last year, check out our New Year’s Eve (Eve) report from Magic Kingdom.

Here’s a look at the plans for this year:

    • Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks (12/30-31): 6:30pm, 11:50pm
    • DJ Dance Parties (Cinderella Castle, Frontierland, Tomorrowland)

In 2021, crowds were manageable, and executives have promised that the Disney Park Pass reservation system will allow Disney tight control over guest experience. That said, we expect that crowds will be higher this year than they were last year, but nothing like pre-pandemic times…hopefully.

    EPCOT (9am to 1am)

EPCOT throws Walt Disney World’s biggest New Year’s Eve party. It’s unlike anything else that you will experience in a Walt Disney World theme park and something that we suggest every Disney fan tries at least once. There are DJ Dance parties in some of the World Showcase countries, and the fireworks show is one of the most impressive that EPCOT puts together. Here’s a look at our view from last year, which was the first time that Disney included the Harmonious barges in the show!

For New Year’s Eve (December 31st), EPCOT will present the following fireworks shows:

    • Harmonious: 6:30pm
    • Cheers to the New Year A Sparkling Celebration: 11:54pm

DJ Dance parties will kick off after sunset.

    Disney’s Hollywood Studios (8:30am to 12am)

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has a more laid-back atmosphere, with a DJ dance party in front of the Chinese Theater, but no special fireworks. There will be a countdown to midnight moment.

    Disney’s Animal Kingdom (8am to 8pm)

There are no notable New Year’s Eve celebrations at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
