The scaffolding has been removed, and a refreshed Jupiter has been revealed as part of the ongoing refurbishment of Planetary Plaza in front of Mission: SPACE at EPCOT. The refresh began last year but has been on the books since 2022 and it has been relatively slow going. Milestones for the project include the start of the project last Spring, the reveal of a new pavement design and Mars rover tracks back in August, the removal of Earth last summer (still missing), and the removal of the attraction sign earlier this year.
Now, a refreshed Jupiter is now visible to guests after scrims arrived around Thanksgiving of last year. Here’s a look at Planetary Plaza from a visit to EPCOT earlier today!
I was lining up the sentence “Jupiter doesn’t look a day over 4.603 billion years old” to compliment the work, but the solar system’s oldest planet is quite dirty after the work.
Next up is Mars, which was the worst of the celestial bodies in Planetary Plaza, by far.
