New Paint Scheme Arrives at Astro Orbiter During Lengthy Refurbishment

While visiting Magic Kingdom today, we noticed some fresh new paint at the Astro Orbiter, which is currently closed for refurbishment. The new paint scheme is a significant departure from the red/orange of the past, and only time will tell if this is a new look for the Astro Orbiter, or simply a base coat. We’ll start with a “before” photo before taking a look at some fresh pictures from our visit to the park today.

New Paint Scheme at Astro Orbiter

As you can see in our photos below, there is a new silver paint scheme on part of the structure that contains the elevators that guests use to get to the Astro Orbiter attraction. The color itself doesn’t look like a base coat, which leads me to believe that this will be the new look for the Astro Orbiter when the attraction reopens this Summer. Here’s a look at the partially repainted load tower at the Astro Orbiter.

The red/orange of the elevator load tower for the Astro Orbiter matches some of the accent painting for the PeopleMover and shared structure. It will be interesting to see if that accent color sticks around, or if it receives an update along with the Astro Orbiter tower.
