According to Anaheim police Sgt. Daron Wyatt, a guest climbed out of a Space Mountain vehicle during ride operation on Tuesday afternoon. Initial reports on social media had indicated that other guests in the attraction thought the man had fallen out of the ride, but the Sergeant denies that he fell out.

“He didn’t fall out,” Wyatt said. “He had to maneuver himself around the safety mechanism.”

According to the OC Register, the man had cognitive disabilities and was able to get out of the ride restraints during the roller coasters initial climb. Disneyland Cast Members stopped the ride once they realized the man wasn’t in the ride vehicle.

Disneyland officials said the ride vehicle’s lap bar restraint remained engaged and that the man “used force to maneuver his way out of the vehicle.”

According to Anaheim police, there was no injury reported or police report. Space Mountain remains closed since Tuesday afternoon as of publish time.
