According to a report from the OC Register, recent work on the Stitch Cast Member parking lot near Downtown Disney is not the start of the Disneyland Forward theme park expansion project. Disneyland Forward, which has not been publicly announced to have been approved by the city of Anaheim, aims to expand both Disneyland theme park and Disney California Adventure theme park in the coming years. The Disneyland theme park expansion appears to take over the Stitch parking lot. When crews began demolishing parts of the parking lot, rumors swirled that the work could be early work for the Disneyland Forward project.

As it turns out, Disneyland officials say that they are just removing some trees and repaving the parking lot. The tree roots had reportedly been impacting the parking lot and Disney is starting fresh.
