A new construction project has popped up on the western side of the EPCOT parking lot, in between the preferred parking lot (Hei Hei) and the EPCOT bus depot. While Disney hasn’t announced a project in this area, conversations that we have had with Cast Members indicates that Disney World plans on improving the ride share situation at EPCOT. Currently, ride share is performed at the front of the Hei Hei lot. While it has been improved in recent months, it still impacts some handicap parking and electric vehicle charging. It’s possible that this land clearing is to create a dedicated ride share pickup/drop off area.

Here’s a look at the land clearing from the EPCOT monorail. Previously, this area contained a dozen or so trees as seen on the far side of the construction site.

In the photo below, we can see the road (right) that ride share vehicles use to enter the Hei Hei lot. The ride share and Hei Hei lot vehicles then use the road to the left to exit. If Disney were to create a ride share depot here, it would be further for guests to walk, but perhaps a safer setup and one that would keep ride share traffic out of the parking lots.
