Walt Disney Imagineering Files Permit for Installation of Show Scenes for New Test Track 3.0 at EPCOT

As Disney works to create the next version of Test Track (3.0), Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new Notice of Commencement permit for the installation of set elements. The permit was filed today, and lists the Jon Richards Company as the contractor for the work. As with all Notice of Commencement filings, details are scarce, but we can see that the work is listed for an address that resolves to the Test Track building.

Jon Richards Company has done a lot of work with both Disney and Universal over the company’s 30+ year history. Most recently, the Jon Richards Company was listed as the contractor for the installation of signage at the new Country Bear Musical Jamboree at Magic Kingdom.

Imagineering has been pretty tight-lipped about the changes for the 3.0 version of the ride, but they have said that “teams are reaching back into history for inspiration—from the original World of Motion—and bringing that spirit of optimism to the next iteration of the Test Track attraction”.

Imagineering has only released one piece of concept art for the interior of the ride, showing a forest scene in the former Responsiveness Test section. This section is where your vehicle makes a series of s-turns as it climbs up some 20 feet or so.

The concept art above would be roughly located where a sliver of sign is visible past the trees in the Test Track 2.0 photo below.

Walt Disney World has not announced a reopening date for Test Track, but it is likely that the ride will be closed into 2025 (if not longer). For a look back at the previous version of Test Track, check out our comprehensive article below!
