New Pavement Work Underway at Animal Kingdom Entrance

Fresh new pavement has appeared at the entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We spotted a noticeably darker section just past the security checkpoint and before the ticket booths along the main walkway into the park. It contrasts sharply with the lighter, older pavement around it. Green barricades currently block off part of the plaza near the work area.

Guests walking toward the ticket booths will notice a clear color change in the pavement. The new section is a noticeably darker brown. It stands out against the lighter, weathered pavement making up the rest of the plaza. A visible seam runs between the two sections. This marks where the new pavement ends and the older surface begins.

Green barricades currently rope off part of the plaza just past the security checkpoint. There is still plenty of space to move through the plaza. Here’s a look at what we saw today.

The older pavement elsewhere in the plaza shows visible cracking, so a broader resurfacing project wouldn’t be surprising. Disney has not confirmed the scope of the work, and it’s unclear if this is a small, targeted repair or the start of a full plaza refresh. We’ll keep an eye on the area and share updates as the work progresses.
