Consumption of Alcohol at Bars Suspended Statewide as COVID-19 Cases Continue to Spike in Florida

Halsey Beshears, Secretary of Department of Business & Professional Regulation, has just tweeted that “on premises” consumption of alcohol has been suspended statewide as COVID-19 cases hit an all-time high with nearly 9,000 reported cases yesterday.

The text of the emergency order classifies a bar as a venue that derives more than 50% of their gross revenue from alcohol sales. Venues may continue to sell alcohol in sealed containers for consumption off the premises.

Vendors licensed as restaurants may continue to operate, and consumption of food and beverages may continue at tables.

There is no end date to the suspension.
