Disney Clarifies That Guests Must Be Stationary and Maintain Physical Distancing When Eating and Drinking at Theme Parks

It should probably go without saying, but Disney has reiterated that guests who want to take off their mask to eat or drink must do so while maintaining physical distancing and remaining stationary, according to Scott Gustin.

This isn’t necessarily a new policy, but one that required some clarification as we spotted quite a few guests walking around World Showcase in recent days during the Taste of Epcot International Food and Wine Festival while eating and drinking without a mask on. Officially, the wording on the Walt Disney World website says that a mask must be worn at all times “except when dining or swimming”. Cast Members will remind guests that they must maintain physical distancing and remain stationary while eating or drinking.

UPDATE (6:15pm): Disney has updated their official wording since we posted this story. Their official wording is as follows:

You may remove your face covering while actively eating or drinking, but you should be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing.

    1. I have to disagree with this. This is July and 90 degrees. We need to hydrate. I for one am constantly drinking water or something. Have to stop every 5 min. Go to an area that not a lot of people. And drink my water. Well not sure how this is going to be a policy. You taking away from the attractions .
