Cast Members Spotted Manually Pushing PeopleMover, Scheduled to Reopen in Less Than a Week

As Cast Members continue to prepare for a reopening of the Tomorrowland PeopleMover, they could be spotted manually pushing multiple PeopleMover vehicles this morning at Magic Kingdom.

As we were watching the testing, the cars suddenly slowed to a stop before Cast Members left the dispatch station and started walking the track. Typically this would signal an emergency stop of the attraction, something that is normal during testing, but they then had to manually push three vehicles backwards along the track, presumably to get them into position to restart.

If this is the normal emergency stop procedure, it would likely require an evacuation of guests for Cast Members to manually push the cars back into place. Hopefully what we saw was testing of an anomaly and not common. Also worth noting is that while upgrades were made to prevent vehicles from bumping into each other, we did see one instance of two vehicles bumping into each other today.

We previously saw multiple vehicles slam into each other during earlier testing but we’ve generally seen very impressive behavior from the testing that we’ve watched. It’s clear that the vehicles are much more cautious before proceeding when there is a slowdown or stop.

As of publish time, Disney expects the Tomorrowland PeopleMover to reopen on April 4th.
