CDC to Recommend Fully Vaccinated Individuals Wear Masks Indoors, Walt Disney World Would Qualify

According to a report from CNBC, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is expected to put out new recommendations this afternoon as it relates to face mask wearing. While unvaccinated individuals continue to be expected to wear face masks indoors, the new recommendation would be that fully vaccinated individuals wear face masks indoors as well.

The recommendation for fully vaccinated individuals would reportedly apply to regions with high transmission rates. According to the CDC website, nearly the entirety of Florida qualifies as “high” transmission, including Walt Disney World.

This news comes on the heels of Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings declaring that the county is in “crisis mode” and that unvaccinated individuals need to “step up to the plate” and take the COVID-19 vaccine.

As of publish time, Walt Disney World has remained silent on the “crisis” taking place in their community, but updated safety rules could be implemented soon if the CDC recommends that everyone wear a mask indoors again. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Disney has closely mirrored CDC policy, and we expect that they have been in communication with state and federal officials to provide a safe environment for their guests.

As recently as yesterday, we saw Disney filming at Walt Disney World with actors and Cast Members wearing masks despite the fact that masks are not required in the scenario that they were filming.

Disney has not formally announced any changes to their face mask policy at this time.
