Tropical Storm Fred to Impact Florida This Weekend

The National Hurricane Center has issued their 11am advisory on Tropical Storm Fred, which is currently nearing the Dominican Republic.

While Tropical Storm Fred is not currently expected to develop into a Hurricane, or threaten Central Florida, the impacts of the storm will likely be felt this weekend throughout Florida.

Central Florida remains in the eastern side of the Cone of Uncertainty, but wind speeds are expected to remain in the tropical storm range (39-73mph, sustained).

In this second graph, we can see that the effects of Tropical Storm Fred could be felt in the Central Florida area throughout Saturday and into the bulk of this weekend.

Disney World has not issued any operational changes as a result of Tropical Storm Fred at this time, and our suggestion is that guests traveling to Walt Disney World this weekend prepare for higher than average amounts of rain. Of course, visiting Walt Disney World in the summer should include a certain amount of planning for rain anyway.
