Despite the fact that Splash Mountain is now closed permanently at Magic Kingdom, there is still a song from the attraction (and the problematic Song of the South movie) playing at the entrance to the world’s busiest theme park. Earlier today, we visited Magic Kingdom and noticed that the song Ev’rybody Has a Laughing Place is still playing at the park entrance. The other song from Splash Mountain, Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah has been removed from the entrance loop. It’s unclear why Disney has decided that Ev’rybody Has a Laughing Place, a song featured in an attraction deemed incompatible with Disney’s ideals, wasn’t removed, but we have noticed a bit of inconsistency from The Walt Disney Company when it comes to their Diversity & Inclusion efforts.
Here’s a video of Ev’rybody Has a Laughing Place still playing at Magic Kingdom this morning. Also included in the video is the removal of Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, which used to play between A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes and Winnie the Pooh.
