The first attraction to hit 1,000,000 riders at Universal Epic Universe is Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment. The milestone was confirmed in a tweet from Monsters Unchained Creative Director Gregory Hall. Hall says that Monsters Unchained is the first attraction at Universal Epic Universe to cross the milestone.
Monsters Unchained Passes 1 Million Riders Milestone
Monsters Unchained recently eclipsed the 1 million riders mark – the first attraction at Epic Universe to do so. Monsters Unchained is one of just a few attractions at the park that doesn’t have operational concerns or extensive downtime. The attraction is completely indoors, which takes weather out of the equation. The ride also utilizes a Kuka arm ride vehicle and a constantly loading platform, creating a high throughput of guests per hour.
While it isn’t clear over what timeframe Monsters Unchained welcomed those 1,000,000 riders, it is entirely possible that the milestone was reached counting only guests from opening day onward. Universal Epic Universe has been open just over 75 days, and if the milestone was reached recently, that works out to be roughly 13,300 guests per day.
If the attraction were only operational 10 hours per day over those 75 days, it would only have to process some 1,350 guests per hour to eclipse the milestone. The ride system certainly allows for that type of throughput. In fact, the ride is often able to process more riders than can fill the seats. To that end, the attraction typically has a wait time on the lower end of Epic Universe attractions. There is also a question of demand. Either way, the attraction is efficient and experiences very little downtime.
We’re fans of Monsters Unchained, placing at the top of our Epic Universe ride ranking list. The attraction does a lot of things right, including utilizing the dynamic Kuka arm ride system, and loading the attraction with Audio-Animatronics. The ride may be the best that Universal Orlando Resort has to offer, and the fact that it has passed the 1 million rider milestone is a testament to the ride operations team.
