The Disney Adventure cruise ship’s maiden voyage will be delayed by three months, Disney Cruise Line has announced. The ship was originally scheduled to have its maiden voyage out of Singapore on December 15, 2025, but that sailing has been delayed until March 10, 2026. Disney Cruise Line says that there were “unexpected delays in the shipbuilding process” in an update to guests. Here’s the latest.

Key Takeaways

  • Disney Adventure’s maiden voyage is delayed by three months, now scheduled for March 10, 2026.
  • Disney attributes the delay to unexpected issues in the shipbuilding process.
  • Guests booked on the original maiden voyage will receive a 50% discount if they choose to sail on the new date.
  • Disney Cruise Line plans to refund impacted guests and provide future cruise discounts of 50%.

Disney Adventure Maiden Voyage Delayed by Three Months

The Disney Adventure, as you may recall, was a partially built ship that Disney purchased in November 2022. In an SEC filing, Disney called the purchase price “an amount that is not material”. Reports at the time said that Disney paid $41 million for the ship. Disney said that they’d be able to deliver the Disney Adventure cruise ship for a total amount that was less than recent fleet additions.

In the announcement of the delay, Disney even acknowledges that the ship was “partially built”, calling the ship a “bold new chapter for Disney Cruise Line”.

As Disney Cruise Line brings this vision to life, we’ve encountered unexpected delays in the shipbuilding process. To ensure every detail meets the high standards your clients expect from Disney, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the Disney Adventure’s maiden voyage to March 10, 2026.

We regret that this change will affect upcoming sailings. We understand how disappointing this news may be for Guests and sincerely apologize for the impact on their vacation plans.
Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line is offering guests a few different options in lieu of the delay. First, for guests who have booked the maiden voyage and want to sail on the new maiden voyage date, Disney is going to discount their voyage fare by 50%.

For guests who have booked an impacted date other than the maiden voyage, Disney will automatically refund any amounts paid to Disney Cruise Line and provide a 50% discount on a future cruise. Here’s the fine print:

  • For Guests who were booked on the original maiden voyage, we would like to offer them the opportunity to sail on the new maiden voyage scheduled for March 10, 2026, at a 50% discount of their voyage fare.*

No action is necessary if Guests are able to join us on this new sailing date. We will automatically shift their reservation to the new maiden voyage, and guests can expect to receive a confirmation with an updated statement reflecting their reduced fare by October 8, 2025. If Guests are unable to sail on the new maiden voyage, we ask that guests inform us by September 21, 2025, to request a refund of any amounts paid to Disney Cruise Line to the original form of payment. Guests may then use their 50% discount on a future cruise.
  • For guests with bookings on all other cancelled sailings, we will automatically refund any amounts paid to Disney Cruise Line to the original form of payment and provide them with a 50% discount on their voyage fare for use on a future cruise. Their future cruise may be booked upon receipt of the cancellation confirmation of their original sailing.
  • To use the future cruise discount, the future cruise must be booked by March 31, 2026, and must depart on or before March 31, 2027. Please see below for additional terms and limitations.
  • The 50% future cruise discount will be notated and visible on each Guest account by October 8, 2025. If booking prior to this date, please note that the discount will not be visible at the time of booking. You will receive an updated confirmation statement reflecting this discount once it is applied, within 72 hours.

* The 50% future cruise discount is applicable only to the eligible Guest’s voyage fare for a new booking. It cannot be applied to existing bookings or any other costs or charges, including but not limited to, Taxes, Fees and Port Expenses. You and/or the Guest are responsible for any balance due after the discount has been applied. The future cruise discount is non-transferable and has no cash value; it is valid only for the named Guest booked on the cancelled sailing as determined by Disney Cruise Line in its sole discretion. Once a reservation is made with the future cruise discount, no name changes will be allowed to the reservation; a name change will void the future cruise discount and the prevailing rate will be applied. The future cruise must be booked by March 31, 2026, and must depart on or before March 31, 2027. The future cruise discount is not combinable with any other offers or discounts, and it cannot be combined with another future cruise discount. Blockout dates apply. Limit one (1) future cruise discount per eligible Guest per cancelled sailing.  Subject to the Disney Cruise Line terms and conditions.

Additionally, Disney Cruise Line says that new 2027 Disney Adventure sailings will be available to book beginning in March 2026.

The Disney Adventure is an ambitious new ship, and something of an outlier for the Disney Cruise Line fleet. The Disney Adventure is expected to have capacity for about 6,700 guests and around 2,500 crew members. The Adventure is the first Disney Cruise Line ship to homeport in Asia, setting said out of Singapore.

The creative teams at Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering have been busy dreaming up exciting new ways to amaze and entertain adventure-seekers while onboard. Inspired by the magic of imagination, discovery, fantasy and — of course — adventure, families will discover seven uniquely themed areas throughout the ship, all designed to bring the extraordinary worlds of fan-favorite Disney stories to life.

Each area will be packed with immersive experiences and entertainment featuring beloved characters where families can create memories to last a lifetime… without ever leaving the ship!

  • In the Disney Imagination Garden, journey through an enchanted valley inspired by more than 100 years of heroic and heartwarming Disney stories – from Mowgli exploring the jungle to Moana taming the high seas. This imaginative gathering space will also be home to dazzling performances on an open-air stage.
  • At Disney Discovery Reef, travel down to the ocean floor to explore the nautical worlds of “The Little Mermaid,” “Lilo & Stitch,” “Finding Nemo” and “Luca” complete with uniquely themed shopping and dining options.
  • Inspired by the expansive world of “Big Hero 6,” San Fransokyo Street will be a bustling family entertainment area featuring interactive games and activities, shops, cinemas and more.
  • At Wayfinder Bay, be called by “the line where the sky meets the sea” to a poolside retreat reflecting the Pacific Islands-inspired artistry of “Moana” with some of the most stunning views aboard the Disney Adventure.
  • Venture into the enchanted Town Square — a fantastical forest filled with shops, lounges, cafes, restaurants and entertainment venues inspired by the magical kingdoms from “Tangled,” “Cinderella,” “Frozen,” “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “The Princess and the Frog” and more.
  • Heroes will unite at Marvel Landing where Avengers-level adventure featuring thrilling attractions and all-new experience await.
  • At Toy Story Place, little ones will pal around with friends from Andy’s Room in a whimsical and interactive water play zone along with different themed food venues.

The Disney Adventure is just one of a number of cruise ships expected to be added to the fleet in the coming years. Disney Cruise Line is in the midst of an unbelievable expansion as one of Disney’s shining stars for guest experiences.

Back in August 2024, Disney Cruise Line announced that it would be expanding its fleet with four all-new cruise ships. The new ships will debut between 2027 and 2031, bringing Disney Cruise Line’s total fleet number up to 13. The ship names, designs, and itineraries are still in development.

Of the four new ships, it is said that one will be a Wish-class ship, and the other three will be the new, smaller design. The smaller design will not only allow for a reduction in environmental impact, but it will also allow for more destinations to be added to Disney Cruise Line itineraries – including locations that only support “smaller” ships.

report from Seatrade Cruise News says that Disney’s next class of ships will be smaller than the recent Wish-class and even smaller than the Dream-class of ships already in the fleet. The three ships will be about 20% larger than the Magic-class ships, the Magic and Wonder. Disney will be making the smaller ships to allow for the new ships to run on a variety of fuels, and to further Disney Cruise Line’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact.
