Good morning from an overcast Magic Kingdom, where crews continue to make overnight progress on the repainting of Cinderella Castle. Earlier today, we noticed that moat draining was underway to support the arrival of high-reach cranes. That said, crews are able to reach certain areas of the Castle without a high-reach crane in the moat. Here’s a look at the latest progress, including the removal of gold trim elements.
Cinderella Castle Repainting: Removal of Gold Trim
Before we get to the latest photos, let’s wrap this article in some context. Here’s what Walt Disney World has previously announced about the new color scheme, set to debut later this year.
The updated paint will feature grays, creams, blues, and touches of gold aiming to enhance the castle’s architecture.

And here’s a look at the repainting project as of this morning. We can see that the grey color scheme has expanded on the “rose pink” part of the Castle. We can also see that Disney is removing the gold trim. There will be “touches of gold” in the final product, but it looks like there will be significantly less gold trim once the work is done.
Crews also appear to be repainting the blue roof tiles as well.
