BREAKING: Disneyland Ending Magic Key No-Show Penalties

Disneyland is removing the Magic Key no-show penalty starting October 7th. Disney says Magic Key holders will also be able to modify or cancel a park reservation until 11:59pm PT on the day of the reserved date. Magic Key holders still need a park reservation for every visit. Here’s the latest.

Magic Key No-Show Penalty Removal and Same-Day Reservation Changes

  • How the current no-show policy and modification deadline work
  • What stays the same, plus the dining card offer and 2027 plans

Disneyland Resort Magic Key holders are getting two changes that make park reservations easier to manage. The no-show penalty is going away, and the deadline to modify or cancel moves to the end of the reservation day. Disney says both changes begin October 7th.

We covered the policy when Disneyland introduced the Magic Key no-show rules. Under the current rules, a holder with 3 no-shows in any 90-day window cannot make new park reservations or modify existing ones for 30 days. Existing reservations stay in place, and the 30-day period begins the day after the third no-show. Disney says missed reservations will no longer trigger that restriction starting October 7th.

New Same-Day Modify and Cancel Deadline

Under the current policy, Magic Key holders have to modify or cancel a reservation by 11:59pm PT the day before the reserved date, subject to availability. Starting October 7th, Disney says holders can make those changes until 11:59pm PT on the day of the reservation itself.

Disney says the new deadline gives holders more flexibility. A holder whose plans shift on the morning of a visit can update the reservation that same day instead of deciding the night before.

What Stays the Same for Magic Key Holders

Disney says park reservations remain a requirement because they help the resort prepare for each day. Holders should modify or cancel when plans change, and Disney says that frees availability for other guests.

Disney says it wants Magic Key holders to know “we’re listening,” and that their insights, ideas, and experiences matter. Magic Key renewals through May 26th, 2027 include a Disney Dining Card worth up to $100. New “Iconic Disneyland” Extras Unlocked offerings are coming in 2027, though Disney has not yet detailed what they include.
