Walt Disney Imagineering has shared a first look at the Obligatory Holiday Overlay at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, and The Electric Mayhem decorated a lot more than the soundtrack. The new video shows holiday touches from the queue all the way to the launch. It arrived the same day the overlay opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, so guests can see it all in person starting now.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is celebrating its first holiday season after the Muppets took over the coaster in May. Disney announced the Obligatory Holiday Overlay in October, and today it officially debuted. Imagineering marked the occasion on Instagram with a look at the work behind it.

Holiday Touches Fill the Queue and Pre-Show

The caption keeps it short and sweet: “The Electric Mayhem is ready for the holidays.” Holiday touches start in the queue, where the band’s Electric Mayhem posters now sport festive details.

The pre-show studio appears to have the biggest changes. Scooter’s Audio-Animatronics figure now wears a holiday costume, and holiday decor dresses up the studio around him. New holiday-themed videos play in the pre-show as well, telling the story Disney laid out in October. The band is rehearsing a holiday show inside G-Force Records while a few Muppet friends drop by to help. Meanwhile, Scooter and his penguin audio engineers still have to get everyone across town on time.

The Launch Area Gets Into the Spirit

The holiday theming follows guests all the way to the coaster. Holiday decor now fills the launch area, and the screen in the launch sequence picks up holiday touches of its own. That screen is the last thing riders see before the L.I.M.O. takes off, which makes it a great spot for one more festive beat. The video teases even more changes beyond these, so there’s plenty to spot on a first holiday ride.

New holiday soundtracks also start today. Disney lists four tracks for the overlay:

  • “Holiday Road” by The Electric Mayhem featuring Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear
  • “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” by The Electric Mayhem featuring Jennifer Hudson
  • “Silver Bells” by The Electric Mayhem featuring Cyndi Lauper
  • “Little Saint Nick” by The Electric Mayhem

The Obligatory Holiday Overlay stays open through January 6th, the final day of the Walt Disney World holiday season. Guests who ride during that window will also take home the new holiday-themed on-ride photos from Disney PhotoPass, which have the same “One Night to Rock the Halls” theme.
