PeopleMover refurb complete

|

|

The PeopleMover officially reopened yesterday after being closed for just over 2 months. The refurbishment started June 2nd and coincided with the closure of the Astro Orbiter. Work on the PeopleMover included a change of color scheme from blue to red/orange, work on the turn table under the loading platform, and improved motors for a smoother ride.

While many were hoping for more changes, there are no changes to the show itself. Presently, a lot of the audio narration is missing, but as more work continues it will match the narration that existed before the refurb.

Yesterdays reopening was met with plenty of problems and down time. After issues with the ride vehicles, it opened around 11:30am. It went down again around 6:30pm due to the down ramp not functioning. It reopened around 8:15 only to have people evacuated from the ride about a half hour later. Finally, they had it running again around 10:45pm and it remained running for the rest of the evening.
Take a look at a full ride-through video below as well as some pictures of the new paint!
