World Health Organization Now Recommends Using a Face Mask in Public

The World Health Organization (WHO) has updated its guidance on the use of a face covering. Previously, the WHO didn’t recommend using a face covering, but they have recently changed their guidance.

The WHO joins the CDC in recommending that the public wears non-medical masks while out in public places.

Of course, the use of a face mask will be required when the Disney World theme parks reopen and while Disney has been using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as the authority on recommendations, the WHO joining in on a face mask recommendation strengthens Disney’s position that a face covering is in the public interest.

In their updated guidance, the WHO says that there is no high quality or direct scientific evidence that a face mask will keep the public safer, but that there is enough of a growing amount of observational evidence to validate changing their recommendation.
