Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail Modifications: Shorter Trail, Fewer Animals, Close Quarters

The bird aviary is undergoing a month-long refurbishment within the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. As a result, Disney has modified the operations of the area to allow guests to still see some animals. We made it out to Disney’s Animal Kingdom today to give you a look at the temporary changes.

The main entrance is closed off, with all guests utilizing the exit. Cast Members are using a small stroller parking area to hold the line and pulse guests into the trail to maintain capacity limits.

Throughout the trail, there are directional markers and some social distancing stickers where crowds may form. While the photos we choose to post didn’t have many guests in them, we found ourselves passing by guests quite closely as this is typically a one-way path that is being used for both directions.

As far as the trail itself, guests will not be able to see all the animals they typically might see. Not only is the aviary closed, but so is the reptile research center and hippo pools. Guests work their way back through the trail and they’re able to see the gorillas, monkeys, meerkats, and zebra.

Cast Members we spoke with expected the refurbishment to be completed by the end of February.
