Reservations & Prices for Mears Connect, Replaces Magical Express in 2022

As many Disney fans know, Magical Express will be ending on January 1, 2022. Magical Express provides free transportation between the Orlando International Airport and Walt Disney World. Here’s what Disney said about the end of Magical Express:

Vacationers have more options to choose from than ever for transportation, including ride-share services that save time and offer more flexibility to go where they want, when they want.

In light of this shift, when Disney Resort hotel bookings open for stays in 2022, we will no longer offer Disney’s Magical Express service for airport transportation, starting with arrivals Jan. 1, 2022. We will continue to operate the service for new and existing reservations made at Disney Resort hotels for arrivals throughout 2021.

Additionally, complimentary transportation options – such as buses, monorails and Disney Skyliner – will continue to be available within Walt Disney World Resort for Disney Resort hotel guests, including to and from all four theme parks.

    Mears Connect

Mears Connect, operated by the same third-party company that ran Magical Express, is a new offering that aims to continue the safe, reliable transportation that guests have been used to for decades.

Guests who are traveling in 2022 can now make reservations for Standard or Premium service on the Mears Connect website.

Here’s a look at what Mears is calling their “introductory rates”. It’s unclear when these rates may increase.

    Standard or Express

The Standard level of service is a shared ride service on our Mears Connect (bus or van) that is economical as the fare includes all tolls and other surcharges. The Connection will make a limited number of stops and will have you on your way to your resort within 20 minutes of your check-in to the Mears Connect reception area.

For Standard service, your return transportation will be scheduled to meet you, at your resort, up to three hours in advance of your domestic flight’s departure time or up to four hours of your international flight’s departure time. Your confirmation email and 24 hour notification will supply you with the time of pick up.

The Express level of service is a direct service with limited to no wait time. This service includes all tolls and other surcharges.

For Express service, your transportation will be scheduled to meet you, at your resort, two hours before your domestic flight or three hours before your international flight.

Both standard and express service levels incorporate all current city, county, state, federal and CDC health and safety measures and both standard and express service levels will provide your party with continuously clean, sanitized vehicles.

    1. Would a gratuity to the driver be expected with the $200 premium service? It’s essentially a pre-booked taxi so if you’d be expected to tip on top of that, it’s a pretty expensive ride!
